THE BIG FISH STORY:

Cassidy Winter, barber with a purposeFor as long as there have been barbershops, there have been big fish stories. Men have gathered to chew the fat, play cards, drink, tell the occasional lie, talk about the weather, and maybe even get a haircut and a shave.

When I opened Big Fish Barbering and Brazilian in August 2020, it was with the idea to continue the tradition of the old fashioned Barber shop.

One of my inspirations for naming my shop was the movie Big Fish. I loved the movie’s central theme of believing in your own story, even when no one else does, as well as standing by your truth and sticking to it. Being a longtime resident of Valley County, I was also inspired by—and have always been in love with— one of our area’s  literal big fish stories, Sharlie, Payette Lake’s own resident lake monster.

I’m a local girl with Idaho roots, who just wants to take care of my community and fill a much needed void in the industry with an old-fashioned barbershop offering cuts and shaves to working class men who might not enjoy a salon atmosphere, while adding a touch of modern day aesthetics by featuring McCall’s only full-body sugaring services.

Feel free to call, or stop by to schedule a haircut, shave, hot towel, or sugaring service. Or just swing by to chew the fat. Tall tales are always welcome here and I’d love to hear your story!
